| This literature database is intended to provide an easy-to-use common ground for sharing information, knowledge and new ideas among CIGENE researchers and all our collaborators. With this database you can easily collect all your references and their related PDF files in one place, and make them available from any location to any authorized user with internet access. There are three main reasons why we have created this database: 1. Immediate PDF access Our experience shows that a literature database that does not provide immediate access to the associated PDFs is suboptimal from a productivity point of view, at least in projects involving more than one person. 2. Simple to create record from PDF One very often starts out with the PDF file itself and not the literature record. Few of us then take the time to create the record and link the PDF, even in a personal database. In most cases the PDF is printed out and is later either mislaid or filed away. This procedure is then often repeated by everyone involved in the project. Now you can simply add the full records and their associated PDF files to this database for archive and later retrieval at any time and location. This can be achieved via import of various data formats, for example we accept CSA, RIS and ISI formats. You may also import by directly entering a Pubmed ID or by direct DOI extraction of PDF files. 3. Alert service Finally, in any collaborative setting, you may wish to alert your collaborators when you come across an interesting paper. This database has an email function embedded in it which enables you to send a direct link to the selected PDF(s) to collaborators as soon as the record has been created. By providing this alert service, we hope to lower the threshold for continuous crosstalk. To make reference lists in specific formats for various journals, selected records in the database may easily be exported to EndNote or other literature management software formats. We hope you will enjoy and make use of this service. In the meantime we recommend the following article search engines: HubMed, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Windows Live Academic Article Search. | |

| "Simple Search" search the typical fields of the database. "Advanced Search" search in any of the database fields. "SQL Search" allow you to formulate advanced SQL queries. "Show Record" where you can enter the internal database serial number directly to get the record data. "Extract Citations" where you can build a reference list from extracted citations of a text. Additional help on how to import/export data from software like: EndNote, RefWorks, RefMan and ISI, can be found here. | |
